The Erasmus Mundus Association (EMA) was founded in 2006 and is one of the biggest culturally diverse and interdisciplinary Student and Alumni organisations present worldwide. More than 12,000 students and alumni are EMA members, spread over 174 countries. EMA is an NGO, politically independent and non-profit.

The mission of the Association is to build a strong community and provide an opportunity for members to make a positive difference by strengthening civic participation, education, and other development initiatives. This is facilitated by providing a forum for networking, communication and collaboration, and also offers an exchange platform for students and alumni. EMA contributes to the successful internationalisation of Higher Education by promoting Erasmus Mundus as a European programme of excellence in international education and advocating for Erasmus+ through the unified voice of students and Alumni.

EMA engages and connects students and alumni through country representatives, all over the world. Country representatives are also the direct contact for European Commission representations, putting our members and interested students in direct contact with the key stakeholders. These connections allow us to create mutual understanding between nations and cultures. EMA creates a space for dialogue and learning opportunities and acts as a representative towards decision-makers. EMA strengthens mutual understanding among young people from around the world and brings Europe closer to young people.
